The purpose of this project is to identify bioactive compounds from various species of arctic algae that can benefit human health.

This project tested ten species of algae, for possible nutraceutical and pharmaceutical bioactives. Seven of the species showed potential, including samples with possible anticarcinogenic effects. This project showed that bioactives from Arctic algae could be the basis for compounds that save millions of lives.
