Aromatherapy: Think Fast!

Student: Hanna Longard

District/Region: South Shore District

Event: 2011 Canada-Wide Science Fair

Grade 10 - Bayview Community School

This project is an experiment to investigate how aromatherapy can affect a person's reaction time. Grapefruit was used as the source of aromatherapy. The online 'Human Benchmark Test' was used to accurately measure reaction times. When compared to the control group, it was statistically proven that the subjects' exposed to aromatherapy, had reaction times which were significantly improved. The application of these results could benefit society. In many work places employees are required to stay alert and respond quickly, such as surgeons or pilots.
