Sounds Good to Me

Student: Liz Furness

District/Region: Annapolis Valley Region

Event: 2011 Canada-Wide Science Fair

Grade 9 - Berwick and District School

My project, Sounds Good to Me, is about microphones, and the variables that affect the quality of sound they record. I explored the 5 main types of microphones; dynamic microphones, condenser microphones, ribbon microphones, piezoelectric microphones and carbon microphones. To further understand how microphones work, I built a condenser microphone. I chose to do this project because I love music, and wanted to learn about the science behind it.
