Bigger Faster Stronger Sooner: The Effects of Creatine Monohydrate on Lobster Larvae

Student: Sarah MacCallum

District/Region: Chignecto Central Region

Event: 2011 Canada-Wide Science Fair

Grade 11 - Pictou Academy - Dr. T. McCulloch School

This experiment examined stage IV lobster larvae to determine if the addition of creatine monohydrate to their diet would result in an above average increase to both body length and width, the data of which could be applied to lobster hatcheries. The results indicated the trend that creatine significantly increases the length and width in larvae after molting from average as well as speeding up the larvae's molting cycle.
