Improving Ear Protection

Student: Alexander Sapp

District/Region: Halifax Region

Event: 2012 Canada-Wide Science Fair

Grade 10 - Fountain Academy of the Sacred Heart

A computer run test was used to prove that there is not a direct relationship between the amount of ear protection used, and sound localization capabilities (it matters where the protection is positioned). Response times for front/back sound localization were shown to be greater than response times for left/right sound localization. Subjects were shown to have low front/back sound localization capabilities with standard ear protection.
