District/Region: Halifax Region

Event: 2012 Canada-Wide Science Fair

Grade 9 - Gorsebrook Junior High School

In this project, I explore the relation between turnout and body alignment in young, non-professional dancers. Using multiple cameras, videos of dancers in two experience levels executing active and passive positions were recorded and quantified using video analysis. Qualitative upper body analysis was used in addition to the determination of percent change between a control turnout and typical turnout, and variation between the groups noted.
