Treading In Murky Waters

Student: Sheralynne Deveaux

District/Region: Cape Breton-Victoria Region

Event: 2007 Canada-Wide Science Fair

Sheralynne is a student at Riverview High School and her project examined the utilization of fluctuating asymmetry, the liver somatic index and the gonad somatic index in evaluating the health of a population of Fundulus heteroclitus.

Sydney River, Mira River, and the Sydney Tar Ponds ranked from healthiest to least healthy based on the results of this research.

Her project earned a Bronze Medal in Earth & Environmental Sciences and a University of Western Ontario Scholarship at the 2007 Canada-Wide Science Fair in Truro. Sheralynne is a young Nova Scotian celebrating science and discovery. Congratulations Sheralynne!
