Turn Down the Heat

Student: Adam Hinchey

Event: 2008 Canada-Wide Science Fair

Adam is a student at Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School and his project, 'Turn Down the Heat', investigated global warming and how to mitigate its effects.

'In this project I analyzed literature from a variety of sources and studied the way global warming affects our planet. I used these results to develop a computer model and apply my findings to marine ecosystems. Finally, I utilized my findings to develop a management plan to mitigate the effects of global warming.'

At his Regional Science Fair, Adam won 3rd place overall, a Gold medal in Senior Earth & Environmental Science, a 1000 dollar entrance Scholarship from St. Francis Xavier, a Cape Breton Highlands Student Council Award, an APENS Scientific Process Award in Senior Innovation.
