An Investigation into Chaos Theory

Student: Christopher Harlow

District/Region: Annapolis Valley Region

Event: 2008 Canada-Wide Science Fair

Christopher is a student at Kings Edgehill School and his project was called 'An Investigation into Chaos Theory'.

Chaos Theory - a sensitive dependence on initial conditions. Chaos Theory suggests the inability to accurately predict future outcomes when the state of present conditions cannot be precisely and accurately determined. This report includes both physical and mathematical experiments, which resulted in non-predictable outcomes, including ones in which the initial conditions were constant!

At his Regional Science Fair, Christopher won a Gold medallion, a Nova Scotia Institute of Science Award, and best Physical Science project.

Congratulations, Christopher!
