The Green Machine

Student: Hope Latta

District/Region: Annapolis Valley Region

Event: 2009 Canada-Wide Science Fair

Grade 7 - King's-Edgehill School

A solar powered cooker was designed, built, and tested based on a parabolic dish reflector.

With a 60 cm diameter reflector area, a hot dog was heated to 66 degrees C in 22 minutes. The slow cooking rate was due to the poor focusing ability of the home-made reflector and the need to improve insulation.
